Global PCB production in slow growth in 2008
According to the market reports which IPC released in 2008, the global PCB was slow in 2008, compared to 2009, only increased by 1%, reaching 50.8 billion U.S. dollars.
This annual report included PCB output value and products' type, the laminated board of country classification, in order to help the industry to analyze and quantify the opportunities and constraints of global PCB material and process equipment. The PCB out put is expected to double-digit decline compare with 2008.
The share of Chinese PCB production in 2008 continued to grow, reaching 31.4% of global production, while the share of most other countries can only maintain the same level or declining. Japan is the second largest producer, accounting for 22.5%. Asia currently holds the global PCB output value of 84%. PCB production value in North America and Europe declined slightly, and only 8% and 7% of the share.
High-density interconnect board was one of the markets which have a significant increase in the PCB industry in 2008, and most of the production was in Asia.
The European PCB production declined by about 10% in 2008, and fell about 6.5% in North America, while the North American market declined by about 5.3%, which indicate that the level of production has been affected by the shrinking domestic market. In North America in 2008, only IC substrate boards and high performance PCBs increased a little.
